1/33 P-51D Mustangs
« on: May 14, 2012, 01:33:27 PM »
This is it! the first release in a series of many P-51D models!

"Pin Up Girl", flown by 1st LT. John C Donnell Jr.
The aircraft was originally flown by Lt. Berkeley E Hollister,
and the Pinup Girl artwork was added after the aircraft was reassigned to Donnell.

The original noseart was painted by 434th Squadron painter, S/Sgt Frederick C Hayner (known as “Hayner the Painter)
(pictured on the cover)

Unfortunately the aircraft and 1st Lt. Donnell were both lost in 1945.

I can't answer that question...
I want to produce 127 various kits.
But I'll probably get bored after about 6!
So, if I am lucky, I might get 2 or 3 dozen done...eventually...over the next year?
Who knows, if they are good sellers, I might get more done quicker?!

And as far as which particular models, thats really a toss up at the moment.
My plan was to first do only Tuskegee fighters.

Plan obviously changed with the very first kit! lol

I can tell you one thing for sure...the next release will be Creamer's Dream (Tuskegee Airmen).

Two new P51s this week, the first of which is "American Maid".

Lt. Eugene Sears' "American Maid" P-51D flew its first mission on December 23 1944 and was salvaged at War's end on Sept. 21 1945.

I really liked the patriotic artwork on this plane,
and its featured on both sides of the nose, so thats cool too!

Available now at ecardmodels...http://ecardmodels.com/north-american-mustang-american-maid-paper-model-p-2748.html?osCsid=c8cbb891fc5360d5a5bb1e6c14520dd3

My second new P51 release this week is The Shark of Zambales.
Which came about as a result of a request on the forum.
These Philippine AF aircraft are quite interesting, if not a little bit loud!

Mustangs served with the Philippine Air Force from 1947 through to the mid 1950s, flying missions in several armed conflicts.
This kit builds PAF Commander Col. Benito Ebuen's personal aircraft named "Shark of Zambales" which flew a number of combat missions.

Two more Mustangs added today...

Moonbeam McSwine has been on the list for some time...finally got it done and posted!

...

and, as a result of a request at papermodelers.com, the Kentucky Air National Guard F-51D (1948)
that crashed, taking the life of Capt Thomas Mantell.
Speculation and myth surround this airplane accident which supposedly was the end result of a
failed attempt to chase an unverified UFO.

both models available at www.ecardmodels.com and through www.papermodelshop.com

END OF JUNE RELEASES!

1/33 P-51D Mustang Old Crow
as per request, the bare metal version of OLD CROW!

I think this was Bud Anderson's last version of Old Crow (in WW2).
Find it at papermodelshop.com and ecardmodels

AND...

First, hopefully not the last ...Canadian Mustang.

This one, the City of Winnipeg of the 402 Auxiliary Squadron of Manitoba.
I take it Pilots were not assigned specific aircraft because I can't tell you
if any one single Pilot flew this plane.

I do however enjoy some of the great paint schemes that appear on Canadian aircraft, and thats why I started with AC 274.

Get it now at papermodelshop.com and ecardmodels!

For the Cripes A'Mighty... are you going to design a different one from Dr. Zarkov's?

http://www.papermodels.co.il/Images/P51DcamGE.jpg

I really hope so. Thing is... there were like four different Cripes for the 'Tang.

So you can have more options.
