Dr. Dave:   IMHO:  You gotta let us post images. What else is a model builders' forum for?  Just specify some limits as the others do!

I can help you!!

of course you are allowed to post images JIm!

You have misunderstood...

This Forum is supported and hosted through an account owned by Chris G (ecardmodels)
I don't pay anything for what I get...it has a lot of features and a few limitations.
I'm not paying for any extra online storage or features.

You will notice there is no Photo or Image gallery like you see on a lot of forums.
Thats because of the extra storage capacity needed.

To be honest, I don't know what the limits would be on storage (associated with this account)
but I don't want to use it up allowing image attachments.
I can turn off the "attachments" feature within posts but I would rather leave it available for
Text attachments, amd small files, and such. (Including Avatars).

I would also hate to max out the storage capacity and have anyone start losing their posted images.

For me, its not a problem, because I have always uploaded and stored my images to
my Photobucket accounts. (I have a few free accounts)  All the images I post on on this forum,
on papermodelers.com, on my airbrush forum, on any of the forums I frequent are either stored at
Photobucket or they are hotlinked images from other internet sites.

So, this is what I am suggesting and asking my members do.  Photobucket is just one online storage.
There are many many more.  But I found Photobucket to be integrated into many forums
and one of the easiest to use.  With a service like Photobucket, you can make your posts come alive
with embedded images and/or thumbnail images.

Not to mention the photo editing features available at Photobucket.

....
I'm going to move this thread into the Site Suggestions area...its good info.
And I am going to repost the Image posting info I made up.

.................

Obviously this thread was started a long time ago, when I was still using photobucket as my primary image hosting source.
That has now changed.

The issue was allowing photo posting with your topics and threads.
The answer is "go ahead" and post your photos!

You have two options:

You can "attach" any image to your posts using the "postimage feature.
Just look below the post/text editor for the "Add Image to post" icon.
Click it and upload your image.

Your image will appear as a thumbnail within your post.
Exactly where the  thumbnail sits depends on where your cursor is when creating your post.

As you see, the image above is an "inline attachment", rather than appearing at the end of the topic.
This is a nice feature for a thumbnail option.

#2....
Alternately, you can use any online Image Host (imageshack, imgur, flikr, facebook, etc) to store and link your images.
This will allow you to post larger images directly in your posts (no thumbnails unless you post them that way)

Its up to you to handle your own images and direct link them within your posts.
Be warned:
If you post images that are too large, the forum has an automatic resize feature in place.
Your images will be reduced to a maximum of 1024px wide.
and
Some Image Hosts (like photobucket) do not tolerate third party linking in this manner.
Your images might be blocked or broken by the host.
Check your account and the terms of service with your Image Host.
