Its about time to release the Conair Harvard Mk.IV kit.
Its been ready since way before Xmas, but I have been waiting on some photos of the test build...
and those photos do not appear to be coming anytime soon.

(Might be the last time I do a personal request for a stranger and hand out a free kit?
Getting tired of helping people out, only to be let down again and again.)

Anyway, the Conair kit is in the stores now!
Nice bright paint scheme on this one, and I am hoping the aerial firefighting connection
will be of interest to modellers. Especially a Canadian themed model.

1/33 scale Harvard Mk.IV C-FNSN (by special permission, Conair Aerial Firefighting).

Actually,I am the guilty one and just happened to set up again this afternoon for a start of attempt number 3 ::).  I am having difficulty producing a photo-worthy product - I think the quality and detail of this lovely kit is challenging my old eyes.  I will press on with my meager abilities, but if someone with better skills than mine can turn out a quality build to show off this very nice kit, please feel free to give Dave the deserved credit.

Regards,
John

Over the last few years I have given away a lot of free kits ...asking for photos (for the shop listings).
I've also given away a lot of kits to get test builds (before I release the models).
Its also common for me to drop other work and do personal requests (for models).
I usually end up giving away a free kit in those cases too, and ask for a build and photos.

But I have been burned many times.
I've been burned too many times in my opinion.
And I never see the finished model or any photos.

And this has become a very sore topic for me.
Unfortunately now I am to the point where I don't think about "why" the model isn't built,
I just think "uh-oh here we go again"!

I am well aware that lives are more important than model building...
Building a model for me is understandably secondary to family and other responsibilities.
And then there are technical difficulties...like what you have had John.
Sometimes things like getting a model printed properly doesn't work.
Although there may be the best intentions, things don't always go to plan.

John, please continue with your attempts to get this model printed and built.
I am quite satisfied with the model being released as is.
I test built the necessary parts myself and everything looks good..
All I really was hoping for from you, were some photos of a finished model for the store listing.

And those photos can be added at any time.

So I am still looking forward to seeing the finished model (from you).
Its not about seeing a perfect build.
In fact, I can usually clean up photos for the store use.
Do your best with it and have fun
...and if you are satisfied with the model, then that is all I am looking for.

Couple of new kits ready to go...

First up, this "What if?" Tri-Colour USNavy SNJ.
I even made it into a Fighter/Trainer!

Modeled on the tri-colour paint scheme of a F4 Wildcat, its a very unique fantasy aircraft.

You can get it at www.papermodelshop.com

and at ecardmodels: http://www.ecardmodels.com/index.php/1-33-snj-us-navy-tri-color-fighter-trainer-at-6-t6-texan-paper-model.html

........................................
Second release this week, is another Royal Canadian Navy Harvard.

This model was a special request from a friend of mine whos Father trained in this plane back in the 1960s.
We did much research to try and settle on the look of the plane, since no photos exist.
I have dedicated this model in honour of Canadian serviceman Pat Galt who flew this aircraft while training
with VC-921 Squadron (attached to HMCS Cataraqui) operating at Norman Rogers Airport in Kingston Ontario

Get the model at www.papermodelshop.com

and at ecardmodels: http://www.ecardmodels.com/index.php/1-33-mk-iv-harvard-royal-canadian-navy-825-at6-t6-texan-paper-model.html

I whined about the delay in getting this model built...
but obviously quality is better than speed sometimes...and it was well worth the wait!

YukonJohn has done a fantastic job on this Harvard kit.

As already mentioned in another thread (on another site)....
a faux Zero from the movie Empire of the Sun.

1987 Steven Spielberg film about a young boy (Christian Bale)
growing up in Shanghai during WW2 (under Japanese occupation).

Model is available now at ecardmodels: http://www.ecardmodels.com/index.php/1-33-at6-t6-texan-mitsubishi-a6m-zero-empire-of-the-sun-movie-paper-model.html
I haven't got the listing posted yet at papermodelshop, due to some technical difficulties, but it will be posted soon.

Very nicely done AT-6 Zero.  If anyone is looking for more Harvards in disguise, you might want to check:
http://www.skhv.nl/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=63&Itemid=68%E2%8C%A9=nl

They provided modified Harvards for "A Bridge Too Far" as well as other movies.  From the movie info:
"Four Harvards portrayed American and German fighters. Their original identities were PH-KLU, PH-BKT, B-64 and B-118, the latter two aircraft loaned by the Royal Netherlands Air Force."

So many neat projects, and so little time.  Keep up the great work, please!

John

And as an interesting "funny how life works out" story, when I showed my build of the Conair Harvard to the local aviation historian up here, he indicated that he had his Harvard solo on that exact plane.  I had not known that when I asked Dave for this model - funny how life works out  :). The model now resides in his model collection.

John

That is absolutely fantastic.  Are you going to make another and have him sign it?
