Request for Mustang "Jeesil Peesil Mommy"
« on: September 25, 2012, 12:53:49 PM »
Dave.

The former president of the local IPMS club (Alamo Squadron San Antonio), Lee Forbes, is member of the American Fighter Aces Association (http://www.americanfighteraces.org/about.htm), and he is organizing a periodic Luncheon in the city with some fighter pilot aces that live nearby. I already attended one a few months ago, and I met some interesting fellows, most of them WWII aces.

On October 5th, he is organizing the next luncheon, and he told me that General Frank Gailer is attending. Now, Grl. Gailer was a P-51 ace who in July 1944 he joined the 357th Fighter Group in England as a P-51 pilot. Flying with the 363rd Fighter Squadron, he was credited with destroying 6 1/2 enemy aircraft before he was shot down in November 1944 and interned by the Germans as a prisoner of war in Stalag One.

His Mustang was Jeesil Peesil Mommy.

More of him here:
http://www.af.mil/information/bios/bio.asp?bioID=5479

On an Osprey Book:
http://books.google.com/books?id=A4Rm7LcYATwC&pg=PA47&lpg=PA47&dq=Jeesil+Peesil+Mommy&source=bl&ots=knId3pmxcz&sig=vhjsg0p6m9GMEzftUQs80WMhEeg&hl=es&sa=X&ei=XdhhUKv5N5TurAHgx4GIAw&ved=0CEcQ6AEwBA

An couple of images of his P-51 C Model.

Lt. Frank L Gailer Jr, Manhasset, NY, 363rd Fighter Squadron. P-51C 42-103002 B6-T "Jeesil Peesil Mommy". The a/c was named from his favourite expression and the fact that his wife was pregnant. The photo shows the result of Lt. Gailer having ground-looped the a/c at Leiston on 26 September 1944

What would take for you to design this plane for him? Is basically the same as the Old Crow C model, as it was the same squadron, but with B6-T on fuselage and name Jeesil Peesil Mommy on nose.

Even if I wanted to, I could not get a model ready in time.
This week is out completely.

I would have to put other work aside next week to do it.
And there would not be enough time for you to build it.

Since putting out the new D model,  I have been planning to
redraw my A/B/C Mustang...and redo all my earlier kits.
The models are 2-3 years old now and all created with earlier skills.
My work has improved since then.
So I want to clean up the kit in a few areas
and apply a new set of textures and finishes.
I plan to do this soon...maybe in the next six months.

Even if I could, I really don't want to create another C model with the old template.
Theres just no point in adding any more kits until the redraw is done.

Too bad we didn't have more time.

maybe you could say hello and tell Mr Gailer
that I will be doing a model of his plane in the future.
(just not sure how soon)

If he would like a copy of the model
or maybe just some photos,
all he has to do is give us his contact info
and I will  be happy to send something.

Well... all went OK at the luncheon. There were good war stories (including the one from Gral. Gailer and his bail-out from the P-51), one from a B-17 Pilot, Mr. Donald Freer (also a bail-out story), one from a Vietnam vet on a mission to confuse F-4 Phantoms to kill Mig's, and another story from Col Dean Caswell, about commanding a bunch of F-8's to protect Nordic countries from soviet nuclear threat in 1960.

Sitting with me was Mr. Ollie Crawford, who at age 87 flew a U-2 recon plane, and flew P-40 in WWII and on Air Shows (I didn't know about this at the time of the meeting, gee... I should have bring my P-40 model for he to sign it).

Also present was Doolittle co-pilot, Mr. Dick Cole, age 97.

Anyway, next luncheon is on December 7th.

So how about it Dave? The Peesil Mustang for December?  ::)

no problem...I will do a Peesil Mustang before December!

I will also do up a print that you can get autographs on.
I'll send you the file, you print as many as you want, and send me back one signed copy.
(I'll pay the postage don't worry)

Maybe give a print to Gailer?
