and a NEW Spitfire, just in time for Xmas shopping!!

Spitfire Mk.II of the RCAF 411 Squadron
The "Grizzly Bear" Squadron (County of York Squadron)

An early Mk.II Spitfire with the earlier paint colours that I like best on these WW2 Spits.
I was looking for a real Canadian Squadron Spitfire and I found this one, in a wonderfully
clear and detailed photo from 1941...which is just the kind of thing I look for when
researching an aircraft for a model.

The model is available now at www.papermodelshop.com

and here, at ecardmodels.com: http://www.ecardmodels.com/index.php/supermarine-spitfire-mk-ii-raf-rcaf-411-squadron-paper-model.html

And I am especially thrilled to show of some photos of this particular model, as built by Ken Uhrig.
Ken did an amazing job for me, and the glossy photo paper he used has given the
model an extra level of build quality. As he put it "she looks like a plastic model!"

I don't know whether that is a compliment or an insult? lol I'm taking it as a compliment.

Can you say POTW?

Hallo,

i 've got this new spit-model from the Grizzly Bear-Squadron yesterday...nice new work!

I' ve a fotobook about the spitfire (from Ron Dick and Dan Patterson)- and i must tell to you Dave: the landing gear and the wheel boxes are primer-green (like the cockpit)! At least most of them...espacially the early Spits.
Mayby you will correct this... ::)

Mayby another Spits will follow...with short wings...MK V...or an US Spit from the 31. USAAF... ::)

Glad to hear you like it!

Every colour photo I have shows the inside of the Landing gear "door" as metal.
And the Gear Strut itself looks metal aswell.
Maybe unpainted? polished? painted silver?...but not green.

As far as inside the wheel well recesses...yes, I would probably agree with you.
Early models might be painted green instead of gray.
Probably should be painted whatever green as the frame and cockpit were painted.

In my defense, this model does not have wheel "wells".
And when I made the fake wheel well inserts I was going for a dark, shaded look.
I could have used a shaded green, but I didn't really think of it.
So, a little bit of watercolour wash will fix it?

I already do offer a clipped wing Spit from the 31st
http://www.ecardmodels.com/index.php/1-33-supermarine-spitfire-rare-and-unusual-issue-four-jf470.html
Its the older template...but you can install the cockpit from the newer model.
I'm not sure if I will update it with the new kit.
