Centurion is done...so...another Tank?
« on: September 30, 2014, 07:08:48 PM »
I have way too many project ideas...lol...but I am already thinking I might like to do another Tank.
It would have to be something a lot simpler...no interior or complicated Tracks.
But it must be big scale.

Seriously...I have the model of Little Willie...the first Tank.
And now the Centurion...50 years after Willie.

I'm thinking it would be cool to do a modern Tank. 50 years hence.
At first I thought about some of the "stealth" designs,
but I have almost settled on the Challenger II.

Considered the "best protected" Tank, it may be Britain's final MBT, and completes 100 years of British Tank design.

Its either a Challenger II...or this (lol, yes, its a real Tank!):

Congratulations Dave on the exquisite Centurion! I too have to say Challenger for the next one (all though military models are not that much my cup of tea) because it fits in the line just perfectly. The Chrysler TV8 looks more like an addition to Koolwheelz collection.  ;-)

lmao...if I do decide to do another Tank
I will be starting with the Tracks, to get them out of the way first!

I don't blame you there.    Those tracks were like an albatross hanging on your neck on the last tank

Did we talk about this before?
I know I have a few project ideas in my folders.
I'll have to go look it up and familiarize myself a little more.
(On that topic, Miles, I took another look at the Dorchester. I didn't find myself overly excited about the project
and I found a couple of good, nicely detailed models already available. So, I have probably passed on that idea for now.)

Trust me, I have enough project ideas on my computer right now! lol
Its just a case of which one is calling my name the loudest.
But the modern Tank idea has been drilling a hole in my brain for some time.

Honestly, I have been thinking more about this
and if I do another "Tank"...it will be a British Challenger II.
That tank is my only choice at the moment.

I would want to do a widely recognized and interesting Tank.
It would have to be something that represents a modern stealth-like design.
It would have to be British...to give me 100 years of British tank design (Willie-Centurion-Challenger).

Only cons are:
I don't want to do more tracks and repetitive parts! lol
The Challenger is already available in many forms, and in large scale from GPM.

...

But, if we are side-tracking with ideas...I am really thinking more about older stuff.
I have really enjoyed the process designing the WW1 Armoured Car, Army Lorry and Little Willie.

I think I want to do more WW1 stuff.

And I already have a large scale project in the works.
I am currently researching, so I'll talk about it soon.

Miles...there are a couple of those Carriers up at the Tank Museum in Oshawa.
Funny little machines.
I would be scared shitless riding in one (in combat), they don't seem to offer much protection.

Not really my cup of tea, as far as a model is concerned.

Kacrut
Interesting Russian Tank...but a pretty obscure vehicle.
Only 70 made.
Not something that is going to be big seller for me either.
There is only one small photo that i could see (at that link you posted)
so I would have to do a search and look for more.

Doubt it is going to be a model candidate for me though.

LOL..yes the tracks, that's why i only build a tank once (Vickers MkII by model perry) ....
WWI Tanks are interesting, such as the British Mark A Whippet.... but the Decision are yours.... i just follow the 'wagon' here. :)

Best regards,
Loui
