Updates to existing P47 Thunderbolts
« on: November 05, 2015, 10:15:48 AM »
This notice applies to my "second generation" P47 Thunderbolts.
Released late 2014 and in 2015.

Its come to my attention that one of the engine cowling parts changed shape and size.
The engine cowling is made up of three hoop sections, with the center section being slightly off in shape and size.

I have personally test built two complete P47s, plus two or three part fuselages including cowls.
And I have not had a problem.
So when and how this modification error occurred, is a mystery to me!

Anyway...I have fixed/updated all the existing kits.
Anyone who purchased through ecardmodels can just go and redownload the model from their account.
they will automatically get the updated kit.
If you purchased from me directly, you can contact me for a replacement.

Don't panic...if you don't get the replacement kit, you can still build your model.
Just trim off (roughly) a 1mm straight cut strip, off each end of Part 38, and it will work just fine.

I thought it might be of interest to some, to see how I build the engine cowling on the P47 model.
Its an assembly that involves straight a number of paper modeling skills and techniques.
For some, its a tricky part to build.
And the skills involved can definitely be applied to other areas of the aircraft model.

Please check out the P-47 Engine Cowl Assembly Tutorial I have posted in my forum area.
