Alouette 1 (Space Satellite)
« on: October 17, 2012, 06:32:35 AM »
With the launch of Alouette 1 in 1962, Canada became the third country in the world with a satellite in space. Alouette 1 was an engineering feat and a scientific success. It fostered the development of a uniquely Canadian space programme. Celebrating Canada‚Äôs 50 years in space theIndustry Canada and the Communications Research Centre Canada is offering  a paper model of Alouette 1 here: http://www.crc.gc.ca/en/html/crc/home/alouette/alouette_project

The most widely known achievement of the Canadian space programme is propably the Canadarm used in NASA's space shuttles and onboard the ISS.

Enjoy.

Hehee...I sometimes do searches about Canadian themed things, go figure. Couple of days ago I noticed it being posted on PM.com too so it's a new model me thinks. Canadarm is a part of AMX shuttle and ISS models. Look here: http://axmpaperspacescalemodels.com/. Individual Canadarm model I don't know of.

Erik te Groen had an Alouette on his old Lansbergen download page, but I don't see it on his current site. It's dated 10 years ago, and is not a graphically detailed as the the CSA version. It is much bigger, however.

Hi Scott,
I didn't know about the earlier model. You could try Wayback Machine if you remember the old site's URL. It would be nice to have both models listed here, don't you think?

I tried Lansbergen.net in the Internet Archive, but although the page comes up, the models there don't seem to be in the archive. It's possible Erik requested that they not be. I guess those who want his version will have to wait until he puts it up on his current page.
