Dave's Outlawz Mini Cruzer
« on: January 14, 2017, 10:40:33 AM »
I'd been meaning to do this for quite a while, but finally got around to printing it last night.  Clear coated and scored, but as I started cutting, I realized there are tabs at the top of the cabin walls AND on the roof.

You can find the model here -- http://davesdesigns.ca/cutandfold/html/free_paper_models.html

It is based off Ichiyama's Countryman at http://www5b.biglobe.ne.jp/~kamaboko/1_30model/pg18.html, with his permission.

It never really says, even on Ichiyama's Flash Instructions, but I am assuming that after you get the roof to the proper shape, the tabs on the roof get glued back into the roof to try to lock in the roof shape, is that correct?

Last time I built this was in 2009!
So I have no clue how it goes together.

I had to download it, and read the instructions.
But there isn't any explanation of those extra roof tabs.

I honestly don't know why there are Tabs on the edges of the roof.
Obviously the tabs on the body sides connect to the roof panel.
I must agree with Vermin...
I'd say that the roof tabs are to be folded under and glued to thicken and reinforce the roof edges.

It also helps create the lip (rain gutter) effect at the edge of the roof?

...
Just so you know....Outlawz Airbrush is now defunct.
I now go under the name Dave's Designs (davesdesigns.ca), and I don't do much airbrushing anymore.
But it was fun while it lasted.

But the phone number (on the car wings) is still correct.

I had thought I had built an Ichiyama model some time ago, but looking at the available models, I came to the conclusion that I meant to, but didn't.  I had an itch to do another AirDave model, and an itch to do an Ichiyama model, so I decided to knock out two birds with one stone.  It's been interesting.  After this, I'm going to do a Sci Fi model that keeps staying fairly near the top of my to-do list, but always seems to never make it to the top.

Not sure what I did, but the body shell was fitting too close.  Putting the wheels behind the wheel wells made odd bulges in the fenders.
